Sunderland supporters are hopeful that Jermain Defoe would be willing to come back to the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland supporters are keen to see Jermain Defoe brought back to the Stadium of Light in January.
Defoe has suggested recently that he is open to a move away from Bournemouth in January.
The striker said to the Daily Mirror: “At the end of the day I’m a footballer and I like playing football. I’m not playing football at the minute so we’ll see what happens.”
And those comments have sparked some ambitious Sunderland fans to urge Stewart Donald to make a bid.
Defoe became a Sunderland legend during his first stint at the club, which lasted for two and a half years.
Defoe blasted in 37 goals in 93 appearances for the Black Cats, but he left when Sunderland were relegated from the Premier League.
The veteran forward has now spent the last two years at Bournemouth, but he has not featured very regularly this term and he could be on the move in the new year.
Sunderland would have to pay big wages to bring in Defoe, but if they could find a way to finance the deal, the 36-year-old would surely be the most dangerous striker in the whole of League One.
