Sunderland are once again looking for a new manager after parting ways with boss Phil Parkinson on Sunday afternoon.
The Black Cats drew at Fleetwood Town on Friday night, leaving Parkinson without a win in three league games – and he has now paid with his job.
Sunderland sit eighth in the League One table, just two points off the play-off places, and a new manager will no doubt feel he can finish in the top six.
So who could the new manager be? The likes of Paul Cook, Gus Poyet, Danny Cowley and Nigel Pearson have been mentioned so far, but fans have another name in mind.
Roy Keane finds himself out of management at the moment, but remains highly revered by some fans at the Stadium of Light.
The Irishman guided Sunderland to the Premier League in the 2006-07 season, kept them in the top flight before parting ways with the club in December 4th.
Keane has been out of management since 2011, but some Sunderland fans now want him back – and attempted to convince David Jones to make a move.
Sky Sports presenter Jones is a lifelong Sunderland man and non-executive director of the club, whilst he just happened to be working on Super Sunday alongside Keane as news broke of Parkinson’s departure.
