Several Sunderland fans are keen to see the former Crystal Palace midfielder arrive at the Stadium of Light.

The transfer window may have closed on Thursday, but that doesn’t guarantee there will be no more incomings at Sunderland this calendar year.

Free agents can still be signed provided they were already without a club before the deadline and some good ones, such as Bacary Sagna, Kolo Toure and Giuseppe Rossi, remain out there.

But some Sunderland fans have identified another player they would like to see at the Stadium of Light, Wales midfielder Joe Ledley.

See below:

Released by Crystal Palace at the end of last season, Ledley has been linked with a string of clubs in England’s top two divisions, although he has already turned down two Championship clubs this summer, BBC Sport reported last month.

A new midfielder has already arrived at Sunderland this past week, in the shape of Ledley’s ex-Palace and current international teammate Jonny Williams, while another new recruit, defender Marc Wilson, can also play there.

The 23-year-old has signed on loan until the end of the season.

Should Sunderland make a move for Joe Ledley following his Crystal Palace release?
