The Black Cats U23s have now lost seven league games in a row and some Stadium of Light fans weren’t happy with another meek defeat.

A number of Sunderland fans have been commenting on Twitter following the Black Cats Under-23s falling to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Newcastle United in the Premier League 2 at Eppleton on Monday night.

The Stadium of Light side fell behind after just seven minutes when Bali Mumba brought down Victor Fernandez, prompting the referee to award the Magpies a penalty which Luke Charman slotted down the middle to beat Anthony Patterson.

Things got worse for Sunderland’s U23s when Brandon Taylor was sent off for on 24 minutes for denying Charman a goal scoring opportunity, the Black Cats man’s hand blocking the ball after the Magpies strike had gone one on one with the keeper.

Newcastle continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded with 18 minutes remaining when Fernandez connected with a cross from the right flank and turned home from around eight yards out.

It was a seventh straight league defeat for Elliot Dickman’s side, who remain bottom of the table with just one point from eight games, and some Black Cats fans made their feelings known on social media during and after the game:
