A number of Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the news that George Dobson has joined the Black Cats (official website).

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder, who arrives from League Two outfit Walsall for an undisclosed fee, has penned a three-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

According to Chronicle Live, Dobson has been on Jack Ross’ radar all summer, with a previous bid being rejected by the West Midlands club.

The outlet describes the player as “tall, strong and composed”, “good on the ball and strong in the tackle”, and with “leadership qualities, a will to win and a natural combative attitude”.

Here is what some Sunderland fans have said on social media about the player’s arrival on Wearside:

Dobson started his career at Arsenal, spending a decade with the Gunners before moving to West Ham United in 2015, and the following year he joined Walsall on loan.

He then moved to the Banks’s Stadium on a permanent basis in January 2018 following a six-month spell in the Eredivisie with Sparta Rotterdam.

Dobson has made over 100 appearances for Walsall over his two spells at the club and wore the armband for much of last season as they narrowly failed to beat the drop.
