Only one Black Cats player – Aiden McGeady – made the cut.

Sunderland winger Aiden McGeady has been named in the League One Team of the Season and is also up for Player of the Year
The 32-year-old has been instrumental for the Black Cats this campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in the league (Transfermarkt), which have helped the Wearside club to fourth in the table.
However, McGeady is the only Sunderland player in the Team of the Season XI, which also included four Barnsley players, three from Luton, two from Doncaster, and one from Portsmouth.
Doncaster’s John Marquis and Luton’s James Collins, who have scored 18 and 20 league goals respectively, have also been nominated for the Player of the Year award and are alongside McGeady in the front three of the Team of the Season.

All 72 managers in the English Football League have been invited to vote for their players of the year and the winners of the EFL Awards will be announced on Sunday 7 April at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
