The Black Cats full-back had a night to forget at the Stadium of Light as Jack Ross and his charges played out another 1-1 draw.

A number of Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on Conor McLaughlin’s display for the Black Cats in their 1-1 draw with Rotherham United at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night.
Jack Ross’ charges made the perfect start, with Marc McNulty finding the net after just 31 seconds when he latched on to a long ball from Alim Ozturk, and they could have doubled the lead from the penalty spot but for Aiden McGeady’s tame side-footed effort being saved.
It was mostly one-way traffic against Sunderland in the second half, with McLaughlin being given a torrid time by Rangers loanee Jake Hastie, who succeeded in getting on the scoresheet on 66 minutes, and just minutes later, the Northern Irishman – also on a yellow card – was subbed off.
So in the end it was yet another 1-1 draw for the Black Cats, a result they’re sadly all too familiar with, and this one proved especially frustrating for many of the SoL faithful, who made their feelings clear on social media about the result and with McLaughlin’s performance.
Here is some of the reaction:
McLaughlin joined Sunderland on a free transfer this summer following his departure from Millwall and is contracted to the Black Cats until the summer of 2021 (Transfermarkt).
