Sunderland beat Manchester City Under-21’s 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Sunderland are into the semi-finals of the Checkatrade Trophy after beating Manchester City Under-21’s 2-0 at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night.
The Black Cats have enjoyed a strong run in the tournament so far, and were pitted against City’s kids, many of whom have been tipped for stardom.
The likes of Tom Dele-Bashiru, Iker Pozo and Benjamin Garre were all named in the City line-up, having trained with Pep Guardiola’s first team this season.
However, they came up short at Sunderland, as Jack Ross’s side led 1-0 at half time thanks to Duncan Watmore’s opener.
Sunderland managed the game well and struck a second just after the hour mark, with Lynden Gooch doubling the lead.
Sunderland are now into the last four, and fans were left stunned with the performance of defender Alim Ozturk against the youthful City attack.

The centre back was signed on a free transfer over the summer, and was blasted by fans early in the season for some poor displays.
However, the 26-year-old may be changing some minds, as he impressed on Tuesday night, leading to some supporters branding him solid, whilst others went even further, calling him unreal, brilliant and fantastic, with some noting their surprise at his display.
