The jury, it seems, is still out on the Sunderland midfielder.

Dylan McGeouch of Sunderland during the pre-season friendly game between Sunderland AFC and SC Heerenveen at Stadium of Light on July 27, 2019 in Sunderland, England.

Dylan McGeouch made his first league start since early August as Sunderland drew 1-1 with Rotherham United at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday.

McGeouch, who arrived from Hibernian during last summer’s transfer window, struggled to convince in his first campaign at Sunderland.

It was widely speculated that the Scot would return north of the border when his one-year deal expired, although the Mackems later exercised their extension option to keep him at the club for at least another season.

But the jury, it seems, is still out on McGeouch, after Sunderland let slip their early 1-0 lead against the Millers to lose ground on league leaders, Coventry City.

This is what those of a Sunderland persuasion are saying about his performance on Twitter…

A few other thoughts from last night: I just don’t get the #safc fans that are convinced McGeouch is some sort of quality player. I have seen zero evidence to suggest that. Plus, I’ll call it now after a few games, Conor McLaughlin is absolute *****.

Don’t care what everyone says about McGeouch. He’s absolutely ******* ***** and that’s that.

Marc McNulty finished off a superb through-ball from Alim Ozturk inside the first minute against Rotherham, who equalised midway through the second half, courtesy of Jake Hastie – a player previously linked with Sunderland.

Sunderland fans – which side of the McGeouch fence do you sit on?
