Sunderland forward Luke Molyneux has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at his side’s win against West Bromwich Albion in the Under-23 match on Monday.

The Sunderland Under-23 side got the better of their West Brom counterparts 2-1 at Eppleton Colliery Welfare.

It was the Black Cats’ first win of the season, and young forward Molyneux played well for the home team.

The 20-year-old forward opened the scoring for Sunderland on 22 minutes when he capitalised on a West Brom defensive mix-up and calmly slotted the ball home.

Molyneux – who signed a new contract with Sunderland in July and will stay at the Stadium of Light until next summer, as reported by The Chronicle – has taken to Twitter to revel in the win.

Sunderland fans have responded positively to the message from the 20-year-old forward, and hope that he gets a chance in Jack Ross’s first team soon.

Young Sunderland prospect James Talbot has also responded to Molyneux’s message on Twitter.
