Flanagan was in action for Sunderland in their League One game against Oxford at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.
The 27-year-old central defender started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as it ended in a 1-1 draw.
Although the former Milton Keynes Dons and Burton Albion central defender started the match well, he struggled to maintain that level, and made some bad decisions at the back.
Sunderland fans were not impressed with the performance of Flanagan against Oxford and have criticised the Northern Ireland international defender on Twitter.
