Sunderland crashed to a 2-0 defeat against high-flying Liverpool this weekend.

Sunderland went into this weekend’s Premier League clash against Liverpool with a clear game plan, but unfortunately for the Black Cats, the Reds ultimately proved too much for them to handle.

With the match goalless at half-time, Sunderland manager David Moyes looked to have got his tactics down to a tee. However, Liverpool persevered and two goals in the last 15 minutes gave the hosts all three points.

Sunderland had Steven Pienaar back in action after the experienced midfielder served a one-match suspension last time out, but the 34-year-old could not help his side to a much-needed victory.

The summer signing has played 11 times for Sunderland so far yet he has failed to score or assist and his dwindling influence prompted much debate on social media after the clash.
