Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong has been linked with a move to West Ham United.

With just a week of the transfer window left to go, West Ham United appear to be keen on adding a new midfielder, with the Hammers eyeing up a couple of targets.

Slaven Bilic has seen his side lost 4-0 to Manchester United and 3-2 to Southampton in a disappointing start to the Premier League season, even after landing the likes of Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez this summer.

Now, the Croatian could dip back into the transfer market again, though attempts to sign Sporting CP star William Carvalho have so far proved frustrating as the Portuguese giants attempt to keep hold of their star midfielder.

Now, The Independent report that West Ham could turn their attention away from Carvalho, and Sunderland ace Didier Ndong is emerging as a possible alternative ahead of the transfer deadline.

Ndong, 23, joined Sunderland from Lorient on deadline day in August 2016, and whilst he endured an up-and-down campaign last season as the Black Cats suffered relegation, he has impressed in the early stages of his season.

The Gabon international could now earn an immediate return to the Premier League, with West Ham potentially looking to land him as competition for Mark Noble, Cheikhou Kouyate and Pedro Obiang.

Now, Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to demand that the club don’t sell Ndong this summer, with many desperate to see the club’s record signing stay at the Stadium of Light as he is integral to Sunderland’s hopes of winning promotion.

Some though are open to letting Ndong leave if it means that West Ham winger Robert Snodgrass heads in the opposite direction, with Sunderland boss Simon Grayson keen to land the wide man having worked together at Leeds – but the consensus is that Ndong should cost a huge fee if West Ham want to sign him.
