Ryan Giggs has suddenly become the odds-on favourite with Sky Bet to become the new manager at Sunderland.
The Manchester United legend has never held a permanent managerial job, but is known to be looking for one and has been both caretaker boss and assistant to David Moyes and Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
Sunderland manager David Moyes
It is Moyes that Giggs would be replacing at the Stadium of Light, with the Scot sacked from his position following the Black Cats’ relegation to the Championship in 2016/17.
They will be looking to bounce straight back to the Premier League and some Sunderland fans think this latest development in who will be their next boss is a good thing.
One also sarcastically makes reference to Giggs’ United teammate Roy Keane, who lead the Black Cats to promotion in 2007 in his first managerial job.
However, not all on Wearside are convinced by the Welshman.
Whether or not Giggs gets the job or not remains to be seen, but clearly the bookmakers think there is a very good chance the 43-year-old being in the dugout come the start of the next campaign.
