Gooch featured for Sunderland in their League One match against Wycombe at the Stadium of Light.
The 22-year-old midfielder started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, as it ended in a 1-1 draw.
The USA international struggled to make an impact on Saturday afternoon and failed to add anything of note going forward.
Like many of his Sunderland teammates, Gooch had an off day, and the midfielder will know that he can do better.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the USA international midfielder scored three goals and provided seven assists in 14 League One appearances for Sunderland so far this season.
The Black Cats are second in the League One table at the moment with 36 points from 17 matches, just two points behind leaders Portsmouth.
