Sunderland failed to win against Charlton Athletic in League One on Saturday afternoon.

Jack Ross’s side took the lead at The Valley after just two minutes when Luke O’Nien found the target for the Black Cats.

Charlton, though, restored parity just five minutes into the second half when Reece James scored an own goal.

It was a disappointing result for Sunderland, and some fans were not impressed with the performances of wingers Lynden Gooch and Duncan Watmore.

Gooch started the match and played for 67 minutes when he was replaced by Watmore.

The 23-year-old winger did well initially and was instrumental in the Sunderland goal, but he struggled thereafter and was wasteful on the ball.

Watmore, 24, had three good chances, but the winger failed to take them and had an overall disappointing performances.

Sunderland are third in the League One table at the moment with 51 points from 25 matches, just two points behind second-placed Luton Town – who have played 26 games – and six points behind leaders Portsmouth, who have also played 26 matches.
