Sunderland are looking for a new manager to replace Jack Ross, and Phil Parkinson has emerged as the favourite.

Sunderland fans do not appear to be keen on the idea of appointing Phil Parkinson as their next boss.

The Daily Star claim that Sunderland have been left impressed by Parkinson, after his interview with the club on Friday.

Parkinson is now the clear favourite to take over at the Stadium of Light.

But Sunderland fans seemingly feel that there are far better options available for them.

Parkinson’s last job came with Bolton Wanderers, and he did some impressive work in hugely difficult circumstances.

Parkinson is also credited for the job he did at Bradford City.

The 51-year-old has previously been criticised for deploying a very direct style of play though, and that may count against him with some Sunderland fans.

As things stand the Black Cats are in ninth place in the League One table, but they do have games in hand over many of their rivals.
