The Sunderland midfielder did his best to inspire a victory against West Ham United but the Black Cats fell short.

Sunderland scored a late equaliser to take a share of the spoils against West Ham United on Saturday afternoon, but a point will do little in their attempt to avoid relegation from the Premier League come May.
Andre Ayew opened the scoring for West Ham before the impressive Wahbi Khazri levelled things up at 1-1.
James Collins looked to have sealed all three points for the Hammers but Fabio Borini had other ideas, scoring in the 90th minute and setting up a grandstand finish.
A late red card for Sam Byram was another blow for West Ham but Sunderland could not make the vital breakthrough in stoppage time, leaving both sides to rue missed opportunities.
While Khazri was the undisputed man of the match, Sunderland’s Lee Cattermole also did his best to lead in the centre of the park, and while the midfielder was lucky to stay on the pitch after some tasty tackles, his influence cannot be understated.
