Sunderland let the lead slip as they could only draw 3-3 with Brentford this weekend.

For the first half of Sunderland’s clash with Brentford it looked like the Black Cats were about to get a much needed victory on the board, but by the full-time whistle their fans were left to bemoan another missed opportunity.
Two strikes from Lewis Grabban and an own-goal from David Bentley had put Sunderland 3-1 up heading into the break Yet second-half efforts from Florian Jozefzoon and Neal Maupay ensured that Nico Yennaris’s first-half tap-in was far more than a mere consolation.

Sunderland needed this win more than most, with their manager Simon Grayson feeling the pressure after a run of results that saw them slip into the relegation zone.
Victory on Saturday would have eased things somewhat, but in the end a single point was all Sunderland took for their efforts, leaving the Black Cats firmly ensconced in a scrap for their Championship future.

Lee Cattermole should be doing everything in his power to pull his team out of the mire, but not for the first time this season the Sunderland midfielder was woefully short of form.
At 29, and with plenty of experience, he should be bossing the second tier. Instead he is the one being bossed.
