For the first half of Sunderland’s clash with Brentford it looked like the Black Cats were about to get a much needed victory on the board, but by the full-time whistle their fans were left to bemoan another missed opportunity.

Lee Cattermole should be doing everything in his power to pull his team out of the mire, but not for the first time this season the Sunderland midfielder was woefully short of form.

At 29, and with plenty of experience, he should be bossing the second tier. Instead he is the one being bossed.
