Sunderland picked up another emphatic win to move up to fourth in League One on Wednesday night.

A number of Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Lee Cattermole’s display after the midfielder helped the Black Cats make it three wins out of four at the start of their League One campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory over Gillingham.
Cattermole has been a divisive figure for much of his spell at the Stadium of Light, especially in the last couple of years where he has remained at the heart of the side throughout their plight into the third tier.
And it had appeared that he may not get the chance to redeem himself with the Guardian reporting earlier this month that Bordeaux were interested in signing the 30-year-old on loan this summer and had initiated talks over a potential move.
However, it appears that many of the Sunderland fans would now be disappointed to see the midfielder leave with many lauding his display in the 4-1 win at the Priestfield Stadium.

Jack Ross’ men came from a goal down to record another emphatic win, with Chris Maguire, George Honeyman and Max Power all contributing to making the score 3-1 inside 20 minutes, while Josh Maja continued his brilliant run of form with Sunderland’s fourth in the second-half.
He may not have scored, but Cattermole’s display was shown a lot of love on social media after the final whistle, with many now suggesting that he could prove to be a key man during the rest of the season.
