Sunderland got back to winning ways on Tuesday night after three draws in a row on, beating Gillingham 4-2 at the Stadium of Light.

Fans had become concerned with so many draws of late, but they got the win they wanted on Tuesday night in a topsy-turvy encounter.

Lee Cattermole put Sunderland in front before Tom Eaves snatched a rapid equaliser, and whilst Tom Flanagan made it 2-1 inside the first 10 minutes, Brandon Hanlan equalised again for the Gills.

Two second half penalties sealed it for Sunderland as Will Grigg and Aiden McGeady scored from the spot, handing Jack Ross a much-needed 4-2 win.

Sunderland keep up their automatic promotion hopes with that win, and whilst the Black Cats scored four, fans were concerned about the defensive showing.

Jack Baldwin missed out as Flanagan partnered Jimmy Dunne, but Sunderland fans are really not impressed with January loan signing Dunne, who arrived from Burnley.

The Irishman had a tough time with the much more physically dominant Eaves, and Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to share their concerns with his performance.

Some believe that Dunne has made an already shaky defence even worse, branding him ‘truly awful’ and ‘absolutely horrendous’, with many calling on Ross to drop him for Baldwin.

Others suggested that they don’t even want to see him in a Sunderland shirt again, and the 21-year-old will need to really turn around his performances if he’s to win over the Black Cats faithful judging by last night’s reaction.
