Sunderland remain fourth in the League One table after a 2-2 home draw with Peterborough United on Tuesday night.

The Black Cats drew 1-1 at Coventry City on Sunday, and were looking to get back to winning ways against the Posh, but only drew in a dramatic encounter.

Josh Maja had put Sunderland in front, but Bryan Oviedo was sent off in the second half, allowing Peterborough to get back into the game as Joe Ward equalised.

Sunderland did go back in front when Jerome Sinclair turned and scored, but ex-Newcastle striker Ivan Toney brought a late twist to the tale with another equaliser for Peterborough.

The two promotion-hunting sides had to settle for a point, and after two successive draws, Sunderland will be hoping to get more when they travel to Bradford City this weekend.

Fans may want changes to the side though, and midfielder Dylan McGeouch is on the chopping block for supporters, who have been urging Jack Ross to drop the Scot.

McGeouch was a big signing for Sunderland this summer as he arrived on a free transfer from Hibernian, having starred as one of the top midfielders in Scottish football last season.

However, Sunderland fans are far from impressed with his performances so far, branding his showing against Peterborough as ‘tepid’, ‘insipid’ and accused him of a lack of urgency, with many concerned that he simply doesn’t offer enough in the middle of the park.
