Sunderland defeated Rochdale 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Sunderland made it two wins in a row on Tuesday night, beating Rochdale 2-1 at Spotland to move up to sixth place in League One.
The Black Cats kickstarted their season with a home win over Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon, and carried that momentum in Tuesday’s game.
Aiden McGeady put Sunderland in front in the first half, only for Rochdale midfielder Callum Camps to quickly bring the hosts level.
Sunderland did claim all three points though, as Charlie Wyke pounced for the winner, handing Jack Ross a vital 2-1 victory at Spotland.
With two wins in a row and an unbeaten start to the season, Sunderland fans have every right to be excited, and particularly with striker Wyke.
The 2018 signing from Bradford City endured a mixed first season with the Black Cats, scoring just five times in 30 games for the club, leading to many criticising his displays.

However, the 26-year-old has hit two goals in three games this season, and looks like a much better player than last season having had a full pre-season under his belt.
Fans took to Twitter to hail Wyke after his display against Rochdale, claiming he was ‘brilliant’ and ‘absolutely unbelievable’, even joking that Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll wears Charlie Wyke pyjamas after a superb display.
