Sunderland beat Blackpool 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Sunderland sit just two points off the League One automatic promotion spots after a 1-0 win away at Blackpool on Tuesday afternoon.
The Black Cats travelled down to the seaside on New Years Day, having endured a mixed Christmas period with a win, a draw and a defeat.
Jack Ross’s side were back in winning form though on Tuesday afternoon, as Josh Maja hit the winning goal to seal a 1-0 win over Blackpool.
Maja flicked home Aiden McGeady’s first half cross to open the scoring, and that was that for Sunderland – though they did survive a scare when Armand Gnanduillet’s shot was cleared off the line and hit the post.
Sunderland saw Maja impress, but he was aided by the selfless play of striker Charlie Wyke alongside him in the Black Cats attack.

Wyke, 26, has endured a stop-start Sunderland career so far, as Tuesday’s start was just his seventh appearance for the club since his summer move from Bradford.
Fans have now been taking to Twitter to react to Wyke’s performance, calling him ‘excellent’ and predicting he will be ‘immense’ when full fit and firing, adding that he was man of the match and a real handful in the Sunderland attack.
