Sunderland crashed to a 3-0 defeat in their latest Championship match.

Sunderland had a game to forget this weekend as they lost 3-0 to Barnsley to make it back-to-back league defeats.
The Black Cats lost 2-0 to Leeds United last weekend and followed that up with a heavy defeat to the Tykes, who won courtesy of goals from Ike Ugbo, Harvey Burnes and George Moncur.

Sandwiched in between was a narrow EFL Cup win against Carlisle United, but manager Simon Grayson will know he has a lot of work to do to ensure Sunderland get back to winning ways in the Championship directly after the international break.
Sunderland started this season as one of the favourites for promotion but after a decent start they have slipped backwards and they cannot afford to be playing catch-up at the business end of the campaign.

They need to keep racking up the points and stay in contention over the Christmas and New Year period and any early-season jitters need to be shaken off sooner rather than later.
One Sunderland player who started against Barnsley was full-back Billy Jones and not for the first time the 30-year-old came in for criticism after the full-time whistle.
The right-back has been an ever-present in the league this season but he looked out of sorts against Barnsley.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Sunderland fans thought of Jones’ latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
