Sunderland fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Steven Pienaar against Middlesbrough on Sunday afternoon.
Pienaar did not start the match for Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, but the attacker came on as a substitute in the 37th minute.
The 34-year-old, who can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, played well after coming on, but the Black Cats still lost the match 2-1.

During his time on the pitch, the South African created one chance and used his experience well in midfield.
The former Tottenham Hotspur attacker recently joined Sunderland on a free transfer after leaving Everton at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon, Sunderland had 47% of the possession, took 18 shots of which five were on target, and earned eight corners, according to BBC Sport.
