Sunderland fans appear to be enthused about the rumours that Chris Martin could potentially join on loan from Derby County.

Martin has emerged as Sunderland’s latest strike target, with Sky Sports reporting news of their interest.

The 29-year-old has fallen out of favour at Pride Park, and has been made available by Gary Rowett.

And Sunderland fans are eager to see the target-man brought to the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland are in dire need of improving their forward options, as they look to weak up-front currently.

The Black Cats were unable to keep hold of Lewis Grabban and they also sold James Vaughan, which leaves Coleman with limited choices over who to pick up-front.

Martin would bring experience and quality to Sunderland’s front line, which could be crucial over the second half of the season.

Sunderland are currently sat at the bottom of the Championship table, and must get their recruitment right in January, if they are to survive.
