A number of Sunderland fans have been commenting on Twitter about last night’s performance in the EFL Cup and one of the Black Cats players who found himself under scrutiny was Max Power.

The 26-year-old was largely anonymous throughout the game and struggled in front of goal, in particular when he inexplicably fired wide from close range after a Marc McNulty cutback into his path.

The hosts, however, maintained a perfect record from the spot, while Will Grigg fired over and McNulty saw his effort saved to put Phil Parkinson’s side out of the cup – though Power did redeem himself a little with a good spot kick.
