Sunderland fans were delighted to see Jan Kirchhoff back in action, after the German midfielder starred for the under-23 side last night.
Sunderland’s development side beat Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford yesterday, and the Black Cats’ showing was highly impressive.
Sunderland took the lead through Sebastian Larsson, who was also stepping up his comeback from injury, before Kirchhoff added a second.

The former Bayern Munich man finished well from just inside the box, after a clever cut back set him up.
Kirchhoff has not played for Sunderland since the start of October, and Black Cats fans were delighted to see him back fit again.
Kirchhoff has been a big miss for David Moyes’ side, as he was one of their most impressive players towards the back end of last season.
The 26-year-old could now be involved in Sunderland’s next match, which comes against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
