Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by Doncaster Rovers in Checkatrade Trophy action last night.

Jack Rodwell has been accused of being Sunderland’s worst ever signing, after his dismal display in the Checkatrade Trophy last night.
Rodwell was selected as one of the senior players to represent Sunderland in the cup competition.
However, the midfielder was the main guilty party, as Sunderland conceded against Doncaster Rovers.

The League One side beat Robbie Stockdale’s youngsters 1-0, and Rodwell was at fault for the goal his side conceded.
The former Everton and Manchester City man was robbed in midfield, and Rovers ended up capitalising on his lack of composure and scoring.
Rodwell was already struggling to win over the Sunderland crowd, but his latest display has done little to increase his popularity at the Stadium of Light.
It seems unlikely that Rodwell’s performance will have done enough to convince Simon Grayson to give him another shot in Sunderland’s first-team.
The Black Cats are next in action after the international break, when they take on Queens Park Rangers.
