Manchester City defender Jason Denayer arrived on loan on deadline day.

Sunderland announced the arrival of Jason Denayer on a year-long loan from Manchester City on deadline day.
The Belgian was one of two arrivals at the Stadium of Light on the final day of the window, joining Didier Ndong who arrived for £13.6 million, a Sunderland record fee.

Denayer has had two loan spells so far in his short career, boasting impressive seasons at both Celtic and then at Galatasaray last season.
The 21-year-old also featured for Belgium at Euro 2016, and has been capped eight times by his country, including the Euro 2016 quarter final loss to Wales.

It has been a tough transfer window for Sunderland, but the under-the-radar signing of Denayer could prove to be a good acquisition by David Moyes.
The centre-back will be competing with Lamine Kone and Papy Djilobodji for a place in the starting XI, and he should gain vital Premier League experience which he is yet to be exposed to.

On a difficult deadline day, which saw Yann M’Vila’s move to Sunderland fail to come to fruition, Black Cats fans have taken to Twitter to react to the arrival of Denayer, although more eyes seemed to be on the whereabouts of a certain Frenchman.
