Sunderland have now been linked with the Aston Villa defender.
Sunderland are linked with a move for Aston Villa right-back Alan Hutton.
Sheffield Wednesday are still leading the race for the Aston Villa man but, according to The Mirror, the Black Cats have shown an interest in the Scotland international.

The 32-year-old had a loan spell at Sunderland in 2010, making 11 Premier League appearances.
And fans of the Wearside club on Twitter don’t seem overly keen on the idea of getting him back, with manager Simon Grayson already having loanees Ty Browning and Adam Matthews as right-back options at the Stadium of Light.
Hutton doesn’t have a great reputation but, truth is, he has not been a bad player for Aston Villa player over the past six months or so.
Sunderland fans won’t have seen him, unless they were watching Steve Bruce’s side in the Championship last term, but he could certainly aid their Premier League promotion push next season, even if they already have Browning and Matthews.
