McNair perhaps put in his best performance of the season in Sunderland’s most recent game.

Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter after David Moyes confirmed to the club’s official website that Paddy McNair is set to miss the rest of the season after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
The incident came during the Black Cats’ emphatic victory over Hull City at the weekend which lifted Moyes’ men off the bottom of the Premier League table.
Though, like the rest of the Sunderland side, McNair had struggled during the first few months of the campaign, his performance against the Tigers highlighted how cruel a blow the 21-year-old’s injury is.
The Northern Irishman arguably put in his best display of the season in the Premier League against Hull – though his display in the EFL Cup tie with QPR in September was perhaps even better – so may well be a big miss for the side as they try to capitalise on their momentum.

After a terrible start, Moyes’ team have won their last two and are now just three points adrift of safety. But, of course, they will have to continue their recovery without McNair.
Sunderland fans have taken to social media to discuss the news. And while some do not appear to feel that his absence will hurt the team too much, others have praised McNair’s attitude after he continued to play on for 46 minutes after sustaining the injury (via The Guardian).
