It is fair to say Andrew Nelson has hit the ground running at Dundee since completing a permanent move to the Scottish Premiership side from Sunderland – and Black Cats fans have reacted on Twitter.
The 21-year-old returned to Sunderland last month after a short loan at Darlington, where he scored six goals in five games. That was not enough to convince Sunderland to keep him, and he has been sold to Dundee.
Signing a two-and-a-half-year deal, Nelson has been in explosive form since going north of the border and continued that sensational goalscoring form on Wednesday night during Dundee’s 2-2 draw against Killie.
He made it three in three Scottish Premiership games with an exquisite brace. His first saw him lash the ball into the far corner of Daniel Bachmann’s net, before smashing home an effort from the edge of the area.
Nelson failed to make a single appearance for Sunderland’s first team, though he did score four and create three more in 15 games for Falkirk during a loan spell.
Sunderland fans reacted to Nelson’s excellent performance on Wednesday night at Dens Park, with the majority frustrated that their club had let such an up-and-coming youngster leave the club so easily.
