Sunderland were plunged ever closer to the Championship after a 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
The Black Cats saw relegation rivals Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Swansea City all win over the weekend, meaning the pressure was on as City arrived at the Stadium of Light.
Whilst David Moyes’ men made a bright start, they fell behind on the stroke of half time as Sergio Aguero poked the ball home from close range after being picked out by Raheem Sterling.
City made it 2-0 after the break, with David Silva threading a superb ball into Leroy Sane, and the German slotted past Jordan Pickford to seal the win for Pep Guardiola’s men.
The result keeps Sunderland bottom of the Premier League table, and they now lie six points adrift of safety as the club move ever closer to relegation.
With just one win in the last ten games, in which Sunderland have lost seven, Moyes is staring relegation in the face – and fans seemingly want him sacked to give the club a chance of survival.

Fans took to Twitter after Sunday’s final whistle to urge owner Ellis Short to make the change now, as Moyes has been a disastrous appointment ever since replacing Sam Allardyce last summer.
Some believe that Moyes must go now, though others are prepared to give him a chance in the Championship, with Gary Rowett suggested as a possible successor should he struggle.
