Sunderland fans on Twitter were impressed with the performance of Marcus Maddison for Peterborough United against their team at the weekend and want him signed on summer transfer deadline day.

Maddison scored twice for Peterborough in their 3-0 win against Sunderland at home in League One on Saturday.

The 25-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, has scored three goals in six League One appearances for the Posh so far this season, according to WhoScored.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the former Newcastle United prospect scored eight goals and provided 16 assists in 40 League One appearances for Peterborough, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Sunderland fans were impressed with the display produced by Maddison against Jack Ross’s side and want him signed today, as shown in the following tweets below.

Interestingly, The Chronicle has claimed that the 25-year-old is a Sunderland fan and is desperate to move to the Stadium of Light this summer, but he has a £2.5 million release clause in his contract at Peterborough, and it is hard to see the Posh sell one of their best players to a direct promotion rival.
