Sunderland picked up another win on Tuesday night, beating Doncaster Rovers 1-0.

Sunderland’s push for promotion back to the Championship continued on Tuesday night with a 1-0 away win over Doncaster Rovers.
The Black Cats beat Shrewsbury Town 2-0 over the weekend, and picked up another outstanding away win to remain breathing down the necks of Peterborough United and Portsmouth in the automatic promotion spots.
Chris Maguire scored the only goal of the game, turning the ball home from close range shortly after half time to give Sunderland all three points and a second straight clean sheet.
Many players impressed for Jack Ross’s side, from match-winner Maguire to goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin, who pulled off some key saves, but defender Tom Flanagan earned huge praise for his display.
Burton Albion allowed Flanagan to join Sunderland for free over the summer, and the 26-year-old has become a mainstay in the Black Cats defence alongside fellow summer arrival Jack Baldwin.
The Northern Ireland international starred against Doncaster, and that prompted fans to take to Twitter after the final whistle to hail his performance.

Fans praised the defender as being ‘fantastic’ and ‘getting better every game’, adding that he is an ‘absolute unit’ whilst even joking that he and Baldwin are like AC Milan legends Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini in the heart of defence.
