The 23-year-old, who switched to the Stadium of Light alongside Goodison Park teammate Brendan Galloway a month ago, played his fourth straight game for the Mackems against Sheffield Wednesday last night, and has yet to taste defeat in that time.

Despite being viewed predominantly as a right-back ahead of his move to Sunderland, Browning has been playing centre-back for Simon Grayson’s side, and continued to impress at Hillsborough.
He and his partner, the one-time Everton target Lamine Kone, were arguably Sunderland’s standout performers as the Mackems picked up a 1-1 draw against the Owls, conceding only to David Jones’ long-range strike.

As it happens, Everton are understood to want to strengthen their options at centre-back, and Browning’s early Sunderland form may convince Ronald Koeman that only a short-term solution is needed.
