Sunderland defender Jack Baldwin only arrived at the Stadium of Light in the summer transfer window.
Baldwin was brought to Sunderland from Peterborough United in the summer transfer window, but did not feature in their first game of the season against Charlton Athletic.
Ross opted to go with Glenn Loovens and Alim Ozturk as his centre-back pairing on that occasion.
But the Scottish boss has suggested that Baldwin could feature in Sunderland’s match against Luton Town tomorrow, as he has caught his eye in training.
“He’s still settling in at the club,” Ross said.
“Sometimes it takes a bit of time before you feel right and I felt last week that he was taking time to settle, and if he was being honest I think he’d say that too.
“But this week he has trained every day and I think he’s starting to look more like the player he is.
“He’ll be in the squad this weekend in a better state of mind than he was last weekend.”
Baldwin has a lot to prove at Sunderland, after being deemed surplus to requirements at Posh.
Baldwin always had the natural capabilities to be a star at the ABAX Stadium, but his error prone performances led to his eventual sale.
Sunderland won on the opening day against Charlton in dramatic circumstances, with Lynden Gooch heading home in the last minute to get their campaign off to a good start.
