Burnley are interested in signing Dan Neil from Sunderland in the January transfer window after watching him in action against Arsenal, according to The Sun.
Burnley interest in Sunderland’s Dan Neil
The British tabloid has claimed that Burnley are ready to bid £3 million for the Sunderland midfielder.
The Premier League club’s chief scout Martin Hodge watched the 20-year-old midfielder in action for Sunderland against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
Burnley are reportedly open to signing Neil in January and then letting him stay on loan at the Stadium of Light for the rest of the season.
Leaving Sunderland for Burnley
In our view, there is a very good chance that Burnley could get Neil if they pay £3 million for the 20-year-old midfielder in January.
After all, Burnley are a Premier League club – at the moment – while Sunderland have been in League One for a while.

However, the Black Cats are only four points off the League One top spot, and clearly they will not want to sell Neil in the middle of the season.
After all, that would damage their chances of winning automatic promotion to the Championship.
However, if Burnley are open to letting Neil carry on playing for Sunderland until the end of the season, then a transfer could well happen.
The Sunderland no. 24 has made 20 starts and one substitute appearance in League One so far this season.
Neil has scored two goals and provided seven assists in the process.
