The Black Cats ex-player has committed his future to Selhurst Park but some Eagles fans aren’t happy about it.

Connor Wickham, who was reportedly a January target for Sunderland, has committed his future to Crystal Palace by signing a contract which ties him to the Premier League club until the summer of 2021.
However, while on the surface it would appear that the Black Cats have missed out, some of the Eagles fan reaction to the news would suggest the Wearside outfit has in fact dodged a bullet.
According to a TEAMtalk report from mid-December last year, Sunderland were to enquire about the potential return of Wickham ahead of the January transfer window, but were set to face North-East rivals Middlesbrough in vying for the striker.
Wickham was on the books of the Stadium of Light outfit between 2011 and 2015 before making the switch to Selhurst Park, but his time there has been affected by injury, with just 42 appearances for them in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
The 26-year-old, who announced his comeback in January with his first goal in 799 days and has scored 10 in all competitions (Football London), has however been rewarded with a new deal at the London club after previously having one year to run on his contract.
Here is how some Palace fans reacted to the news on the social media platform – overall not very positive, hence why there may be potentially some relief that Sunderland haven’t signed him:
