Sunderland are ready to join Hamburg in the hunt for Belgian right-back Luis Pedro Cavanda, according to reports from Italy.
Lazio right-back Luis Pedro Cavanda appears to be on his way out of the Italian capital and Sunderland have emerged as a likely destination.
The 23-year-old faces an uphill battle to secure a starting spot at Lazio where new boy Dusan Basta and Abdoulay Konko are preferred.
Coach Stefano Pioli is said to not be a big fan of Cavanda and is hoping to usher him out of the door before the start of next season.
The player’s agent has stated emphatically that Cavanda will be leaving Lazio in search of a new challenge and a bidding war could take place.
Over the last few weeks, German club Hamburg have been linked with Cavanda, but there doesn’t seem to have been a concrete approach.
Lazio chief Claudio Lotito reportedly wants just under £2.4 million, which could prove to be a bargain for the former Belgian Under-21 international, who is also eligible for Angola.
Cavanda has previously been linked with several other English sides, including West Ham, Arsenal and Everton.
