Sunderland boss Simon Grayson’s past comments on Robert Snodgrass

Sunderland are believed to be keen to snap up West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass.

Sunderland boss Simon Grayson has previously told the Daily Star that he feels he had a major impact on Robert Snodgrass’ career.

Grayson was in charge of Leeds United, when Snodgrass was still a young player.

And Grayson saw a big flaw in Snodgrass’ game, where he would get distracted on the pitch.

“I had a chat with him after the ­Manchester United game and I didn’t hold back,” Grayson told the Daily Star back in 2011.

“I told him, ‘You are more concerned with what is happening all over the pitch instead of ­concentrating on what you need to do. Affect the game and everyone else will ­concentrate on doing the jobs they are supposed to be doing’.”

Since, Snodgrass has gone on to become an accomplished performer on the international stage and at Premier League level.

And Sunderland are now said to be looking to sign Snodgrass from West Ham United, according to the Telegraph.

Grayson feels like a reunion with Snodgrass could be a good option for all parties.

At the moment some complications exist in a deal, as West Ham want £8 million – but Sunderland are eager to take the 29-year-old on loan.

And it remains to be seen whether Sunderland will be able to push through a deal for the talented attacker over the coming weeks.
