Sunderland manager David Moyes has commented on Jan Kirchhoff’s injury that he sustained in the 1-1 draw against West Brom.

It has been a pretty dire start to the season for Sunderland, and the club’s latest string of injuries will not do them any favours as they prepare for a vital series of games in October.
In the 1-1 draw against West Brom, defender Jan Kirchhoff was stretchered off just before the hour mark having also missed the first few games of the campaign with a hamstring injury. As reported by Sunderland Echo, manager David Moyes has commented on what a big loss it is to the squad.
“Not to have him, Steven Pienaar and Adnan Januzaj is massive, because they help us play better and we are short in that area. They are big, big misses to this club.

“If we lose Kirch and we lose Catts, we lose a little bit of the steel and a little bit of the boys who have been here before while we’re looking to build a new team.”
The injury forced Moyes to switch the formation to three defenders at the pick, which ended up benefiting the side as they managed to rescue a point from the game.
Over the course of the next few weeks we will get a much clearer picture of Moyes’ future at the club, with many fans already calling for his head due to their position in the league. Following the international break they face a trip to the Britannia Stadium to take on fellow strugglers Stoke City in what will be seen as a must win for the Black Cats.
