Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen to sign the Sunderland forward this month.

Sunderland boss Jack Ross has made it clear in the Chronicle that Tottenham Hotspur would have to loan Josh Maja back to the Stadium of Light for the season, if they want to sign him.

Tottenham are said to be one of the interested in parties in Maja, by the Daily Express.

The Sunderland forward has bagged 14 goals in League One so far this campaign, and with his contract running out at the end of the season, he could be made available for transfer.

However, Sunderland do not want to lose their top scorer mid-way through the campaign, especially as they are battling for promotion.

And Ross has suggested that Sunderland would be more open to listening to offers for Maja which allowed him to stay on Wearside on a loan deal.

“It’s a potential option, and a potential solution if you like,” he said.

“If he did go, then we’d have to find a replacement at a time when we’re already trying to strengthen in that area.”

Whether that sort of deal would actually suit Tottenham right now is up for debate.

While Spurs could benefit from the regular football Maja would get at Sunderland, if they were to sign him, they need attacking additions of their own.

Spurs look short of options up-front right now, with Heung Min-Son and Harry Kane both unavailable.
