Sunderland forward Josh Maja is currently leading the top scoring charts in League One.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross takes questions during a press conference at The Stadium of Light on August 2, 2018 in Sunderland, England.

Sunderland boss Jack Ross has told the Sunderland Echo that he finds Josh Maja’s finishing scarily good.

Maja currently sits at the top of the League One scorers charts, after netting nine times this season.

Maja has thrived after being handed a chance in Sunderland’s first-team squad.

And Ross said: “It doesn’t grab loads of headlines because it’s not top corner but if you see how he shifts it and where he puts it in the net, he’s so good at that.

“Scarily good actually. I keep saying, the goals he could get, at 19 it is brilliant, really, really good.”

If Maja keeps firing at this rate, then Sunderland are sure to have a valuable asset on their hands.

Only Matt Gooden of Peterborough United has been able to score as many times as the Sunderland man so far this term.

Maja’s goalscoring prowess has been one of the reasons behind Sunderland’s impressive start to the campaign.

The Black Cats are currently in third place in the League One table, and are among the leading contenders for promotion this term.
