Jack Ross’ Sunderland side were beaten in the FA Cup at the Stadium of Light last night.

McGeady and Gooch were both given the night off for Sunderland last night in the FA Cup against Walsall.
However, Ross’ decision backfired as Sunderland were beaten at the Stadium of Light by Walsall.
Ross admitted after the match that despite the changes to the line-up, he was determined to get through in the cup.
But he insists that the league has to take priority, with McGeady and Gooch both now likely to be fit to play at the weekend.
“I’m stating the obvious here, I would rather have Aiden and Lynden available for the league game on Saturday,” he said. ”They should be fine for Saturday.”

Gooch and McGeady have been two of Sunderland’s most in form players in recent weeks, and their absences were definitely felt yesterday.
Walsall scored their winner through Liam Kinsella and booked their progress to the next round.
Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
