Kazaiah Sterling, signed on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on January transfer deadline day, made his debut for Sunderland at the weekend.
Sterling, who joined Sunderland on loan from Premier League club Tottenham on January transfer deadline day, was in action for the Black Cats in their League One game against AFC Wimbledon at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.
The 20-year-old forward did not start the match, but the youngster came on as a substitute on 59 minutes, as Ross’s side won 1-0.
Sunderland boss Ross seems to have been pleased with the performance of the youngster, and he has also joked that Tottenham-owned forward Sterling may not even know the names of all of his teammates.
Ross told The Shields Gazette: “To Kaz’s credit he travelled up late on Thursday night and arrived early hours Friday.
“He wanted to be with us first thing Friday and he only met the players on Friday. I don’t even know if he knows everyone’s names in the team!
“He is a nice young man. It is very different to what he has been playing in, it will help us through and get him some decent game time will help him too.”
Good performance
Sterling was not exactly great during the time he was on the pitch, but the forward did enough for Sunderland to suggest that he will be an important player for the Black Cats in the coming weeks and months.
Sunderland are aiming to finish in the top two of the League One table this season and earn automatic promotion to the Championship.
