Sunderland are set to welcome back Jack Rodwell and Victor Anichebe soon.
Sunderland boss David Moyes has confirmed that he does not believe Victor Anichebe and Jack Rodwell will be out for too much longer in the Chronicle.
Rodwell and Anichebe were both unavailable for Sunderland’s FA Cup match against Burnley last night, and their absences were noticeable.
Sunderland were outplayed at Turf Moor, as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Sean Dyche’s side.
But Moyes is hoping to have the injured pair back available to him again in the near future.
“Anichebe is back running again, and there’s a chance he could be training with us again this week,” Moyes said.
“Rodwell suffered a medial ligament injury on Saturday. Had a scan, nothing serious. Hoping he won’t be out long.”
Anichebe’s return will be a particularly big boost for Sunderland, as he has been in excellent form this season.
The powerful forward adds a much greater threat to Sunderland’s attacking ranks, which could be crucial as the Wearsiders look to get out of trouble.
Sunderland are currently in 19th place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against West Bromwich Albion.
