Sunderland midfielder George Honeyman had been set to start against Swansea City at the weekend.
David Moyes has admitted that he has been left disappointed by the news that Sunderland will be without George Honeyman for their match against Swansea City this weekend.
Honeyman was handed a chance to start for Sunderland in their last contest against Hull City, and his performance impressed.
The youngster helped the Black Cats end their 11-match wait for a win, as they picked up a 2-0 victory at the KC Stadium.
And Moyes admits Honeyman was due to start again for the Black Cats, until he picked up an injury when Lamine Kone fell on him during training.
Honeyman needs to play another 21 minutes to activate a clause in his contract which means he will earn an automatic extension.
The severity of the youngster’s injury is not yet known, but Moyes will be hoping that he is available again soon.
The Scottish boss has hinted that some of Sunderland’s best prospects could be handed their first-team chance before the end of the season, with the Wearsiders’ relegation confirmed.
Sunderland still have away trips to Arsenal and Chelsea left, after they take on Swansea.
